July 2025

Endings, Beginnings and Fond Farewells

As another school year draws to a close, we find ourselves in that familiar mix of pride, excitement and a few tearful goodbyes. July always brings a tangle of emotions - but what a special end to the year it’s been.

On the last day of term, we gathered together in our beautiful school grounds for a truly memorable Leavers’ Service, celebrating our amazing Year 6 children as they prepare to take their next steps into secondary school. With the church currently under repair, we were blessed with sunshine as our school community came together.

We were so pleased to welcome Reverend Cathrine, who joined us to bless our leavers and send them off with words of hope and courage. We couldn’t be prouder of everything this wonderful group has achieved, and we wish each and every one of them all the luck and happiness in the world as they head off to new schools and new adventures.

This summer, we also bid a warm and heartfelt farewell to our fantastic Deputy Headteacher, Suzanne Carroll. Suzanne has given so much to Hernhill over the years - leading with kindness, wisdom and real care for the children, staff and families of our school. We’ll miss her hugely and send her off with our love and gratitude as she begins an exciting new chapter.

Looking back, it’s hard to believe how much we’ve packed into the year! From playing in the rain and sunshine, to singing our hearts out, cheering on friends at sports tournaments, going on unforgettable trips, and raising funds to help others - it’s been a year full of joy, learning and growth. The Hernhill spirit has shone through in all we’ve done.

Hernhill C of E really is a special place - a school at the heart of its community, where children feel safe, seen and supported to become the best version of themselves. As we look ahead to September and the excitement of new classes and fresh starts, we do so with full hearts and great anticipation.
