Safeguarding

At Hernhill CE Primary School, safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. Our whole school community - staff, governors, parents, carers and pupils - all play an important role in helping to keep children safe, happy and supported.

We are fully committed to creating a secure, caring environment where children feel listened to, valued and protected. We have clear safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures in place, underpinned by the belief that every member of our community has a responsibility to act if they have concerns about a child’s wellbeing or safety.

As required by law, the school has trained Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) who take lead responsibility for safeguarding and child protection across the school. All concerns are handled with sensitivity and appropriate confidentiality.

Our safeguarding team is:

  • Mrs Sarah Alexander — Headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
  • Mrs Julia Woodcock — Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
  • Mrs Hilary Ganderton — Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
  • Miss Lisa Tomlinson — Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead

Our Safeguarding Governor is Mrs Lisa Alexander-Bailey.

We encourage all parents and carers to read our helpful Leaflet on Safeguarding , which explains how we work together to keep children safe and supported.

You can also view our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy on our Policies Page.

Our safeguarding policy outlines the procedures followed at to safeguard and promote the welfare, safety and wellbeing of all pupils. It reflects our commitment to creating an honest, open, caring and supportive environment where children feel safe and heard.

The wellbeing of every child is always our highest priority.
