Another Busy and Brilliant Term at Hernhill!

Although Term 5 may have been a short one, it has certainly been packed full of memorable moments…

We kicked off the term with a rather eye-opening Cyber Escape Room for staff. Let’s just say it was both frightening and illuminating in equal measure! Within minutes, we were frantically updating passwords and double-checking online security. A timely reminder for us all in today’s digital world. 

Our wonderful choir represented the school beautifully at the Queen Elizabeth’s Choir Festival. If you haven’t had the chance to hear them perform yet, you really are missing out! We’ll be sure to keep the community updated about future public performances.

This term also saw the launch of our brand-new After School Enrichment Club - and what a success it has been already. We have been overwhelmed by the support from families and the glowing reviews from the children. The activities and opportunities on offer have been hugely popular… although the biggest hit may well be Mrs A’s now legendary secret pasta sauce!

We were also delighted to host our OPAL Open Day this term. Visitors from other schools came to see our children showcasing the fantastic play opportunities we are so proud of at Hernhill. It was wonderful to watch our pupils confidently explaining how OPAL has transformed playtimes.

Beyond the school gates, Hernhill pupils were out in force supporting the village community too. Our Maypole dancers, Pop Choir and Eco Refill team all played a part in the Hernhill Village Fete.

Finally, a huge well done must go to Year 6, who raised over £460 during their recent Bring and Buy Sale in support of the Stroke Rehabilitation Wards at Kent and Canterbury Hospital. The children have carefully researched useful resources including fidget tools, puzzles and sensory items to support patients during rehabilitation. They will be presenting these donations in Term 6. Any remaining items were also kindly donated to the Kent Neuro Centre.

We now look ahead to an exciting final term of the school year!
