March 2025 news
We’ve had another wonderfully busy term at Hernhill C of E Primary School – Term 4 has been packed full of learning, laughter and signs of spring!
The daffodils have been blooming, the birds have been singing, and the school field has finally begun to dry out. This has meant that outside play has flourished once again – if you pass by at lunchtime, we hope you can hear the joyful noise of children playing and exploring. The OPAL playtimes have been full of creativity with a whole new set of dens popping up across the field. Excitement has also been buzzing around the arrival of our tractor! We’re now working on preparing its permanent home on the field. We’ll keep you posted on this exciting development!
This term, our whole school creative curriculum topic has been “ADVENTURES”, and there has certainly been no shortage of them… In the junior school, children have been delving into the daring voyages of Sir Francis Drake and learning all about the tragic sinking of the Titanic. Meanwhile, our infant children have been inspired by the extraordinary adventures of pioneering pilot Amy Johnson. Their topic culminated in a wonderful seaside visit to Herne Bay, where they could imagine just what it might have felt like to set off on an adventure of their own. Whilst in Reception, the children have been soaring into the world of superheroes!
We were also proud to take part in the Spring Show held by the Hernhill Gardening Club. The school joined in with the spring flower competition and we were thrilled that there were over 100 entries! A huge well done to all who took part, and special congratulations to our winners and highly commended: Rocco, Ronan, Joseph, Alexa and Ava. Another joyful highlight this term was Red Nose Day, where the school was a sea of red as children swapped part of their uniform for something vibrant to support this fantastic cause. Thanks to our parents’ generosity, we raised a brilliant £182 in donations!
As always, we are so proud of our children – their curiosity, creativity and kindness shine through every day. We can’t wait to see what Term 5 brings!
