World Book Day at Hernhill

If you happened upon Goldilocks, Where’s Wally or even Harry Potter wandering through the village recently, you may well have stumbled across our wonderful pupils celebrating World Book Day!
It is always such a joy to share the love of reading with the children – and who doesn’t love an opportunity to dress up?
This year, we celebrated with our famous Book Character Catwalk, where we gathered together to applaud one another’s wonderfully creative costumes. The excitement in the hall was infectious... and very loud!
Throughout the morning, teachers swapped classrooms and read picture books to different groups of children, giving everyone the chance to enjoy stories in new spaces with different adults. Before lunch, we came together once more in the hall, where children from across the school shared their favourite books with one another – books, books and more books! This is always a favourite part of the day.
We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our parents for supporting the Scholastic Book Fair. Thanks to your generosity, we have raised much-needed funds to refresh our classroom reading corners and continue nurturing a love of reading across the school. At Hernhill, reading really is at the heart of everything we do.
