Life in All Its Fullness at Hernhill School

I was recently excited to attend the Hernhill Parish Council meeting and share an update on all things Hernhill C of E Primary School - and I thought it would be lovely to share a few highlights in the new all-colour Hernhill News too.

I’m really excited that we are launching our new Enrichment Club in May. It’s been designed as much more than
after-school care - a welcoming space where children can relax, play and enjoy a wide range of activities, from creative projects and quiet reading to outdoor play using our OPAL facilities. There will also be a homework hub to support pupils at the end of the school day.

I’m also delighted to share that we have secured significant funding to improve our facilities. Successful applications to the
Cleve Hill Community Benefit Fund has provided a new computer suite, while support from the Queenborough Fishery

Trust and Bensted’s Charity will enable the refurbishment of our school kitchen. We are incredibly proud to have achieved OPAL Platinum with Honours, recognising our commitment to high-quality play and the wonderful opportunities this brings for our children. I’ve also loved seeing the children enjoy so many opportunities beyond the classroom - from
performing at St Michael’s, to taking part in a schools’ choir festival, to meeting the Archbishop of Canterbury. We’ve also had great sporting success, alongside whole-school events like the Santa Dash and Mini London Marathon, which have been great fun for everyone. I’m especially proud of the children’s commitment to social action, supporting charities such as Macmillan, Walk for Water and the Kent Neuro Centre.

And finally, I’m really pleased to share that Kent County Council will be funding essential roof works across the school - something that will make a real difference to our environment. As always, we are incredibly proud to be part of this village community, and it’s a pleasure to share some of the many things happening in school.
