The new school year has started really well at Hernhill. We have been delighted to welcome 33 new pupils – 30 in Reception and 3 others in different classes across the school.

As ever, sport has been firmly on the agenda at Hernhill. In just the first four weeks, Year 5 have started their weekly swimming lessons at Faversham pool, Years 4 and 6 have been taking part in hockey coaching and Year 2 have begun their term of badminton coaching. A large number of children in Year 6 have also completed their Bikeability training.

We have also had two fantastic events this month. Our PTAFA Summer fete was a great afternoon with lots of children’s performances of singing and dancing, along with the usual stalls. Even the sun shone for us! We are thrilled to announce that we raised £4653 which is being put towards fundraising for new awnings outside each classroom. And then this week,
our Year 2 class held their annual Macmillan Coffee morning. The cakes were generously donated by the Year 2 families, and parents, carers & friends from across the school community came along for a cuppa and a piece of cake. An incredible £627 was raised for the Macmillan cancer charity. Well done Year 2!
